I have a 05 prerunner v6 with a TRD intake and I have a smog test for the first time. I know that this intake is not street legal in CA. This will be my first smog test since I bought the truck in 05. My question is will it pass? I know the obvious answer is no because it is not street legal, but my 99 tacoma had a k&n intake that was not street legal as well and it passed!.Has anyone passed smog in CA with this intake? Anybody know if my 05 will pass? Anybody know how the TRD intake affects smog tests? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My test is due by 8/31/11 so any help, tips, advice before then would be great! Thanks

Find a friend with same truck & ask to borrow stock intake if you don't have it or just go to a junkyard

Thx that is really cool of you. Unfortunately I'm in Ventura and I believe that is pretty far from chino hills. I might try searching for a cheap used stock intake on the internet or junkyard

I got my truck smogged today and I passed! I passed with extremely low numbers as well. I got almost all zeros on everything. So why is the TRD intake illegal if it puts out such little emissions? It actually made it better. Thanks for everyone's help! Very appreciated!

I noticed the new TRD intake is 50 state legal. I also noticed that it has a flat air filter instead of a cone. I cant find the dyno map on it. Do you know which one gets better performance or are they the same?

I see. They probably had to do that to make it CARB legal, so the first gen probably has better performance

Just got a used 2005 with a K&N. Need to go back to stock for smog test if I can't find a smog guy to do it with the K&N. Anyone got pictures of a stock 2005 set up so I can put the original back on for the test? Thanks

I got mine smogged with it on, passed, and the guy said since Toyota installed it, it was fine, just say the dealer installed it?

the intake should be CARB legal...

the kits we have installed came with a CARB exempt sticker to place on the chassis...

i've taken my truck in for smog a couple times and they didn't even look at the sticker...

all they asked is if i modified the throttle body...

    haven't had an issue passing...

I have an 05 with a TRD intake that I just got smogged and it passed with no problem. It actually passed with all zeros on the emissions test. If you're in SO CAL ill give you the name of the shop I went to.
