brake upgrades?

I have a 2011 TRD Sport 4X4 and I want to upgrade my brakes. Anyone upgraded their front brakes and rear brakes to disc? If so what brand, where did you get them and how much better are they? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I don't know if anyone has done the rear brake conversion on here or not... but for upgrades I would get some nice pads (Hawk is highly recommended) and some future proof SST brake lines. Slotted rotors won't do much for these trucks. For a brand new truck though you sould be good on your stock pads for 35k - 50k miles.

 

I believe it was MJP who did a rear disc upgrade on his Tacoma and he had nothing good to say about it. Apparently it's quite the undertaking, braking distances weren't improved and it limited the amount of flex you could get because the rotors or calipers would rub.

As far as upgrading the current brakes, Hawk pads seem to have a very good reputation (and great reviews) on this site. Some have claimed upgrading to SS brake lines improved braking also.

 

For the rears. Disc brake upgrades will help in the rear as well as upgraded front discs and pads.
