Exhaust Help

Hey everyone. I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 2.7l regular cab. There is a guy on craigslist selling a stock cat-back exhaust from a 2011 double cab v6. My question is will this work on my truck? I heard somewhere that the tubing on the v6 from the cat-back is 2.5". Not sure about the length. Figured I'd post and see what you guys have to say. Thanks.

The 2.7L exhaust is a lot shorter. You'll definitely have to shorten it up. Here are some drawings from the FSM to compare against.

I'm not so much worried about the length because I would eventually be putting an aftermarket muffler on it. The muffler I have now is in bad shape and I wanna start fresh. It's a good deal on it.

Are you talking a complete new aftermarket kit (catback) or just a muffler?

The item for sale is a stock cat-back exhaust. I would be changing out the muffler on the new cat-back eventually that's why I am not worried too much about length. Aftermarket mufflers tend to be shorter anyways. My main concern is if the rest of it would match up. Like the diameter and bends and stuff.

If you are just going to switch the mufflers anyway, then it would be more cost effective to keep your stock exhaust and just replace the muffler on it. If you have bad sections of piping then they could replace that too. The piping should not be that expensive to offset the cost of buying the new stock catback systems, having it custom-fit to the shorter frame length, and then replacing that muffler with an aftermarket one. Just my $.02.

I am in the same boat Matt is. Based on what you are describing, you will essentially be doing everything twice.

Ok thanks for the help guys. I was hoping it would work but I think I might as well by tubing and do it that way. That was another option I was thinking about anyways.
