Spark Plugs

ok, So I just got my 40k oil change done at the dealership and they tried told me I should have my spark plugs replaced and that they recommend this to be done every 30k miles. Well seeing as though it is 10 over due, should I be worried about or are they just pulling my leg to get money... Also if I can just do it myself, anyone have any spark plugs to recommend me getting, I dont want the cheap 30 cent spark plugs from advance, any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance

 

I believe it is recommended to replace your spark plugs every 30K miles so I would say they are right. NGK seems to be a popular choice for most people.

 

for the v6....plugs need to be changed every 30k. they are the standard copper core plugs. you can install a set of ngk or denso iridiums and they are good for 100k(they put them in the 4cyl from the factory)......but as easy as the plugs are to change.......i run the standard copper plugs and change them every 30k.

 

yup. my 4 banger came with those iridium tipped suckers. nice to have em. but they are expensive to replace all at one time.

 

Anyone know the NGK number for the plugs ? Example my m/c uses BR8ES....

 

Denso and NGK both make great plugs.
But you need to watch them both...

Yes every 30K is a good number. if you are 10K over who cres, just get the right plugs and do it when you can.

make sure to have Anti-sieze on the threads or you will damage the heads. that stuff is cheap.

now plugs wires might go 60K. but get Factory type wires. they look better. or NGK..

 

I replace the plugs every 30K simply because everything else has been figured out. What I mean is remember when we worked on our cars in high school? Points, distributors, arcing wires, etc. I could get more HP to the rear wheels by replacing the point gap w/ a Mallory magnetic pick-up, better coil, etc. This '06 1GR motor has a coil for every plug and the ECM controls the timing. All of the "slop" has been designed out.
