Had a shop quote me 600 for the whole cat back system and half the price for just chopping out the stock muffler and putting in the new one. wondering why such an extreme price difference and if the whole system really makes that big of a difference

It's a whole system vs just chopping in a muffler... a lot less work on their part. Depending on the system, you can buy a complete cat-back system for between $300 - 700 (700 being 304 stainless steel). Keep shopping around, just chopping out your old muffler and throwing a new one should be under $100, not $300.

it was the 18inch magnaflow just had another shop just quote me 200 for it and they also said they usually put in flowmaster 50 or 60 in the 3.4L. Any opinions?
