What works best to improve MPG @ 6000+ft?

    Would a CAI work better then removing the stock secondary charcoal filter @ elevation to improve MPG?

    A small horsepower gain would be nice but I am looking more for MPG enhancement!

    Also try running a higher octane.

    a supercharger should help you out as it should boost you to sea level power levels when you need it meaning your motor doesnt have to work as hard. then when you dont need the power if just like your truck is now

    Keeping your truck in tune and good driving habits will give you the best mileage.

    Higher octane means nothing at higher altitudes. Blower will give more power but cost in mileage. Intakes might also help power but again mileage will suffer.

    thats not true i actually get better milage withthe blower then with out :eek:

    When I'm not hammering the throttle, I actually get around 24 mpg's on highway.

    Up here at higher elevation my truck is a DOG on power. I am seriously considering getting boosted soon, and I honestly expect my mileage to go up 1-2 if I keep my foot out of it. I wouldn't really expect any mpg gain out of intake, exhaust, headers, etc. The problem is that they take away a lot of your low end power and I can attest to that. I have all of those items and I can tell you that my mileage was about 18.5 in the summer. Now that I am lifted and bigger tires... Like 16.5 :0 The extra power from a blower will make my life a lot easier.

    245k+ miles, rust, working AC, bald eagles
    higher octane "shouldn't" help because there is less air, so therefore less chance of detonation and less need for a fuel that is more difficult to ignite (high octane).

    Driving habits are everything, I can get my truck down to 15mpg if I try, or up to 22mpg+ depending on driving habits. I'd like to see a bolt on mod give that kind of variance from your current MPG's.
