Say you have a stock 2009 Tacoma V6 and $1000 to spend upgrades, what would you buy and why? This is out of curiosity and a question I have to ask myself because I am in this position at the moment.

^Well that was a worthless answer

OP do you want to upgrade interior, suspension, motor? What do you do with the truck? Off-road or daily driver?

Depends on what I(or you) would be using my(or your) truck for, The first thing I would buy for my stock truck is Upper control arms and save whats leftover to buy some Resi coilovers.

Daily driver for me, as it is already that lol. And I don't know if I was loaded id want all of the above obviously but as I'm not im not sure certain areas would be worth putting only $1000 into but I'm no expert lol.

So your not going to be wheeling with it right? Are you just wanting to spend the money on looks? In that case I'de get Billies with the AAL from toytec to give it a nice looking lift. Then get some bigger tires later on to make it look meaner. As long as you dont mind your MPG dropping. And you'll still be able to do a trail easily now and then if you decide to

Well dont know anything about sound systems, but as far as lifts, go to Toyteclifts.com and check out their Bilstein package or the OME.

You might be tempted to buy a spacer or bodylift once you see the prices on them but try to avoid them if you can. Spacers mess with the geometry of your shocks/coils and bodylifts are unsafe(I believe Ive read 1" bodylifts are ok but anything over that you shouldnt try).

Procomp makes a really cheap 3" lift as well but it has been getting some mixed reviews from what Ive seen. I have read nothing but positive things about the Bilstien 5100s and the OME.

If you do plan on going 3" lift, look into some Upper control arms too so you can keep your alignment in check, Light Racing Arms should do the job for you, they are cheaper than others and should serve your purpose.

What about performance upgrades? Anything even worth getting in the $1,000 range? if I had the money I'd drop it on the S/C but that isn't really an option right now lol

$1000 is just the start. After you spend that $1000 on upgrades you'll want to spend more and more

You could look into headers/exhaust but the money vs the gain isnt really worth it IMO.

The best bang for the buck, horsepower wise, will always be F/I. The search for extra horsepower is a very expensive one. Trust me.

Narrow it down to what you would be most interested in, then go from there.
