Intake or drop in filter?

I've been searching around and I've seen that most people are throwing in an AFE pro dry S filter and some removing the secondary air filter. What would be the better choice? The drop in filter with secondary filter removal or the AFE stage 2 si? They seem like theyd be the exact same thing since they both draw air from the fender well, just the intake being a new box and I believe come shaped filter? Would the intake be worth spending the extra $230 over the drop in filter? More mpg's, horsepower, sound??

Mod's feel free to delete this, I searched and couldn't find a thread like this but just found practically the exact same question, my apologies.

Ya, its been covered 1,000 times.....get one used and just clean the filter before installing! K&N goes for $100 used and I thru a AEM dryflow on it for $50 so I didn't have to mess with the oil!

They just make more noise (sounds good why I got it) and can clean and reuse the filter!
