Like Vigo said, there is the XR / PreRunner version, and then the 4x4 version, which Super Werty posted.

Vibrant Performance offers OBD2 compliant High Flow Cats. You could add those back into the URD Y-pipe, if you wanted.

    http://www.jayracing.com/catalytic-...atalytic-converter-25-inch-inlet-p-26732.html

But it will make it about $700 more expensive.

Seeing as that those rear "cats" aren't actually even a complete catalytic convert, but hollow and aren't used to measure any exhaust gases, swap out the Y-pipe and be happy. Otherwise, leave the stock system alone because there is no cost effective improvement for the Y-pipe if you want to have it "legal".

Vigo, do you have any installed pics of the Y-pipe?

May want to heat wrap it where it goes under the transmission pan. Heat* is the #1 killer if transmissions. The more heat kept off the pan, the better!

Pretty good idea, I have some leftover from a bike build I can wrap it with.

Im not trying to argue with you, but wrapping it is not necessary. I am fairly certain I ran the auto trans harder and hotter than anyone else on this forum and never once had any issues. The A750F is practically bulletproof on this truck.

But wrap does look cool too so why not:p

Thats the same conclusion I came to from here and xru......there's all kinds of airflow under the truck too yes?

U have any numbers (trans temps) by the way Mr.Werty?

I still need an ipt vb for other reasons...... Wish I seen urs up for sale.

It's not a competition of who can ruin their transmission first. It's not about looking cool either. Running it hot is one thing, that's great, it has a cooler. Having exhaust heat right under the pan, rising up onto it, will decrease fluid life. Having a transmission failure sucks. If you've rebuilt any automatic transmissions you'd know there's a lot that can go wrong if there's excess heat. It's about making very thing last longer, saving money, saving time. Automatic trans operating temperatures will vary between 130f and 180f. Exhaust temperature can vary from 300 to 1000* depending on engine load. Transmission fluid will break down above 200*. To argue that exhaust temperatures influencing transmission fluid temperatures is acceptable...well that's just silly.

Valid points made here, the only concern I really have is that wrapping pipes normally leads to rusted out pipes. I'll probably just do the section under the pan and check it in a couple months.

They can definitely rust out beneath the wrap, the wrap will hold moisture. However the heat of the exhaust will dry the wrap in decent time too

I wasnt arguing that it was acceptable. My point was that I did not encounter any heat related issues with a truck producing much more heat than normal. Wrap looking cool wasnt a joke, it does look cool.;)

The 4x4 pipe is the same on the FJ. Tons of guys running it as well and no issues Ive ever heard of. I understand your concern but apparently in the last 6 or 7 years no one has had problems.

URD Y-pipe is 304 stainless steel. It won't rust, so you are good there.

Silicone spray your wrap, and or get it ceramic coated if you really want. Those will both help.

I had my exhaust crossover re-routed today. I elected to keep the crossover under the t-case where there is a heat shield. Result is similar to SconnieHailer's posted eaarlier in thread. Now I can fit a Pelfreybilt t-case skid.
