This thread is to inform those whom aren't aware about this product, and if the time ever comes, how to go about getting them.

First off, here is the link to Darton > http://www.dartonsleeves.com/sl_import.htm

I posted that specific link because if you call, you will talk to someone who works in the Import department. Even though the sleeves for the 1GR are not listed.

Here is a quick read about the M.I.D. sleeves. > http://www.dartonsleeves.com/midinfo.html

This is a picture of the finalized product. One that Gadget at URD had ordered. (*Factoid* It was the first 1GR to have sleeves Darton sleeves.)

The full read about that set of sleeves is here, if anyone is interested.

Here is what the process looks like. Pictures of what my block is going through right now.

Now the point of bringing this to light, is that it is another option, to increasing the strength and longevity of your engine. As well as being able to be over-bored, for the performance oriented individual.

Darton Headquarters in CA, is who makes the sleeves. There are a variety of shops that can install them, as long as they have the proper tooling.

Mine in the photo are at Darton East. A little more expensive than then next two shops which I will mention, but they are affiliated and a Race shop. So that got my vote.

You also have Dezod, on the North East side. http://www.dezod.com/cat_engine4.cfm

And LC Engineering, in the South West ,www.LCEPerformance.com

Another picture of the process. The plates which are bolted to the top of the block are named Torque Plates.

    P1010315_zps8fde21a3_fc32001e6a79807ec04ee5c3ecdf270a607c69be.jpg

They take the place of the heads, and are Torqued to spec, in place of the heads. Their purpose is to replicate the pressures of the heads being installed, while allowing the cylinders to be bored to the proper dimensions, and have a true circular bore.

If the sleeves were to be bored without them, they would be round to spec. However, when the heads were then torqued down, there would be a high potential for the cylinder to warp under pressure of torquing the studs down.

So, the Torque Plates reverse that potential. By boring with them on, they are true with the full pressure. With the plates then removed, the cylinders might slightly warp out of true round, but when the heads are then installed, that pressure will bring them back to true round again.

I should also add, that a new set of dual valve springs (SuperTech) was ordered because the original set, from when LCEngineering originally built this engine, was binding when the valves were at full open. New SuperTech springs are in and work as intended. All of the intake bucket shims lashed out perfectly in spec, but a few of the exhaust bucket shims were out of tolerance. Those were ordered and will be in soon.

Here are the specs of my camshafts, for a point of reference:

Kelford Camshafts Stage 2 Turbo cams.

Total duration 265 intake, 270 exhaust.
Duration at 1mm valve lift, 225 inlet, 231 exhaust.
Total valve lift with lash set, 10.55mm inlet, 10.75mm exhaust.

The OEM total durations are 232 intake, and 236 exhaust.

Very cool! I wish I had that much money to blow

1GR with twin GT28RS and Darton sleeves would be bad ass!

That or something a tad larger, and one could be keeping up with some very fast GTR's. ;)

There is an Xrunner in florida that has a pair of GT28R's. All stock internals though.

If it was me I would want full boost by 2 - 2.5k rpm, since my truck is a work truck not a drag racer. I had 2.5L Nissan running T3/T4 60trim which is tad smaller than GT30R, I had full boost by 2.8k rpm. Figure 2L per cylinder bank the GT28RS would be perfect, yes you could throw on GT30 or even GT35, but full boost would be had in higher rpms making it impractical for daily driver/work truck :)

I agree. The largest I would go would be a pair of GT30's myself. Just was fantasizing about how cool it would be to roll up next to a GTR that has a Boost logic or AMS kit, in sleeved Tacoma with a similar pair of turbos. ;)

On the I heard the GT28's on the 4.0 hit max boost before 3K. Not sure the exact # though.

Should have some new pics in a few weeks, to show the main caps with ARP studs, as well as the girdle.

No new updates as far as pictures go, but since my build is a stroker build, I figure I will put this here.
Compliments of my friends at Dezod Motorsports.

Brian Crower 1GR Stroker kit. This is the higher priced of the two. Very excited to see this come to light.

Thanks man! I am planning on doing a dyno with this sleeved engine in N/A form and F/I. Also with my current "spare" engine in N/A form because I want to get a base with the drive train that I have. Since it is a T56 trans. That way it will be easier to relate the gains with itself, as well as against OEM drivetrain.
