I'm a magnaflow fan also but a magnaflow on a tacoma just doesn't do the justice

Personally, I think a v6 is too small a motor for a 40 series flowmaster. They sound great with a v8 though. I'm going 50 series on my taco.

I too think FM's suck! I just pulled off my super 44. Sound was ok at idle but rocks in a beer can when on the gas. Now I went back into a Magnaflow and actually felt a better throttle response and it sounds good under acceleration.

OP, did you go with the Super 40 or 40 series? I wasnt aware there was a difference, but I'm thinking of going with the super 40.

Too expensive 90 bucks for a muffler vs. Almost 500 for the AT catback

What do you mean 2/4 cats? I've seen that a lot on here, not sure what it means exactly

There are 4 cats on the truck... two on each side (set of headers)... there are one on each side before each sensor, then one on each side after the sensor, then the pipe joins to a Y pipe to the exhaust

so from what i've found and my understanding of what my exhaust place said, that i safely without messing with emissions of the computer, took out 2 of the 4 cats on the truck

Yeah you can... But the issue is the cost of the full stainless flowmaster 40 series. When you have a muffler shop install just the 40 series muffler and do custom piping, you're paying 1/4 the cost. And all the stainless steel comes with is the muffler. I did more than the muffler. So custom work is cheaper and more custom

So you got a shop to install the flowmaster 40 series and do their own custom stainless steel work for the rest of the exhaust and it was a 1/4 cheaper? Also on the 2012 tacoma sport i noticed my on exhaust pipe sits lower then the cross member on my frame would the shop be able to make it so it is at least level or sunken a bit past the cross member so if i do have any rubbing on snow/rock/dirt debris that it hits my cross member before it hits my exhaust pipe?

Yeah just google search reputable muffler shops around your area. And go talk to them, because they can bend and shape pipe to go where ever you want it to. But most don't use stainless steel, most just use industrial steel. But like my truck, I had them dump the pipe before the axel so there was no external exposure.

But anyways, just find a muffler shop around you and go talk to them and tell them what you want, they'll be able to price it and tell you what's possible

I would probably say magnaflow. My dads always put those on his truck cause they're a nice sound when your on the throttle, otherwise you generally won't hear it. I bet you can find a few threads on magnaflow users and see how they like it and the sound it gives
