Afe now has a intake setup for the 12-13. It has the added mounting bracket for the smog/ emissions thing...kinda pricey though...

Based on the older style volant and AFE intakes, what would people recommend going with?

Just bought the Volant CAI direct from Volant for 265 shipped.(Not including ram air scoop) Will let you know how install goes and if I notice any gains. Should be here next week. I'm hoping that they have fixed the MAF issue with the CEL coming on for the 2013 models. I called Volant and asked if there is anything I should do to prevent this when I install it... They told me to disconnect the battery when I install. He specifically said that I should not get a CEL from this intake.

This. AFE has their CAI for the 2012-2013 trucks. From my research here, AFE manufactured the first gen TRD CAI. The intake looks nearly identical to the 1st gen CAI less the TRD logos instead of the AFE logos and black connecting boots instead of red. The 2nd gen TRD CAI was manufactured by K&N but several sources around here do not recommend that as it is prone to fouling the MAF sensor. The new AFE Stage 2 SI for the 2012+ has a bracket that mounts to the box to move the smog pump out of the way.

I suppose if you really had to have the TRD you could probably source a first gen TRD CAI and see if AFE would sell just the bracket, or make your own.

I have the new AFE for my 2012...I like it but can't say yes or no for any real improvement. I am sure it breaths ever so slightly better.

I have the Volant with the scoop on my 2012 with the supercharger, 2.8 pulley with the Walbro pump and have not had any issues.

I don't have a boost gauge, so it is hard to tell. I really didn't feel any difference after the install. A lot of people say they like the sound it makes, but once again, I can't tell a difference, the supercharger is pretty loud. I can say that I got horrible gas mileage after I had the supercharger installed, even when I would try to drive reasonable. After installing the Volant my gas mileage has went up considerably. I think it was running way too rich after the reflash and the Volant just helped it get the mixture it was supposed to be at, at least that is why I bought it.
