I just purchased a 2013 Tacoma TRD Baja Edition and want to install the TRD Cold Air Intake like the one I had on my 2011. One isn't available for the 13 yet via Toyota but was wondering if anyone knew if the 2012 TRD Cold Air Intake would work on the 2013 and/or any insight or suggestion as to when Toyota will offer the Air Intake and/or other opinions on this topic. Thanks!

2012 would work but there is no trd for the the 12 either... Volant and Airaid I believe are the only 2 for the 12+

It came with a cold air intake from the factory.
Why would you want to replace it with something that will not filter as well and make more noise?

I disagree. While the factory air box tubing does go into the fender well there is a half dome piece at the end facing away from the front of the truck that makes it ineffective for a cold air intake system. There are many dyno sheets floating around from actual members that show true gains with an aftermarket intake

Cut that shit off, put a drop in K&N , remove the secondary filter and bam! Good to go. Cheap and performs as good as a $300 plus intake. Trust me ran a TRD for a bit but then smog time came around. Phuck California!

No thanks, that oily crap filters don't go in my engine. I have no problems spending $200-$300 on a proven designed system on my $30k+ brand new truck

Looks like K&N now has 2 kits for 12+ based on their website.. Part number are different from the 05-11

Thanks all! I had a 2011 TRD TX Pro and put the TRD CAI in it and immediately saw a huge difference...plus I like the growl from the engine. As dumb as it may be I prefer factory if proven...although I may not have a choice on this one. Wonder if the 2011 CAI would work on the 2013...doubt they changed under the hood any...

I'll take a peek at K&N and see what I can find.

Won't fit, you have a smog air pump in the way that won't fit the TRD unit. Airaid makes a relocation bracket that I believe they will sell you by itself. If you install that bracket and make the electrical wires longer you can make that TRD unit work

IF you have then newer style trd with a black plastic top, and not aluminum......

Sorry to burst ur bubble....its not a toyota part, its made by K&N. IF it fits, ur gunna have to watch for check engine lights due to the piss poor job K&N did on rushing this product.....they used a factory intake system off an fj or 4runner iirc, and there is a slight difference in the intakes.

This causes check engine lights for some people who run the newer style "TRD" (K&N) intakes on a tacoma.

There's info about it from Gadget on xru

The older "TRD" intakes worked much better and were made by AFE. Thankfully they still make the AFE stage 2 Si.... alot of people like that intake since it is 99% the same as the properly built older style "TRD".

So if urs is the 1 with an aluminum cover and deleted the charcoal/evap filter deal, u have an intake others will grab in a hurry if it doesn't fit ur truck.

Well shit. Seems like there isn't an easy answer on this one. I'm surprised that Toyota hasn't come up with a solution to the CAI needs on the 2012/2013!!

Do you think the TRD air filter is worth the $80?

I hear ya man.... From what I have read a lot of people seem to like the AFE Prodry filters....

I really don't care about the gains as I no they are very minimal but I do like the extra noise an intake makes... That why I did my car.. Does a drop in add any noise?? Lol

I only have about 400 miles on it but my Volant hasn't caused any CEL's at all. It's all about how well you install it maybe, but it's definitely not JUST because of the intake.

The 05-11 volant had a smaller MAF tube that apparently was the problem I dunno...

How is yours for sound? I like noise...

I honestly do not think K&N airfilters cause a check engine light since I had one in my old camry and it worked great.

I like it, around town at normal speeds I can't really notice a difference in the cab, but on the highway and flooring it the thing roars. The only thing I see with the Volant is the MAF mounting point isn't the greatest, so I could see it being possible to not fully seat the MAF and having air leaks around it.
