    To maximize horsepower and fuel mileage would it be best to install cold air intake with a chip and high flow exhaust?? also how do you determine which chip to install if you change to cold air intake?

    a chip and intake and exhaust will get you substantially more horsepower and mpg after you get a new engine and throw the other stuff away.


    but seriously, chips do crap
    intakes are usually crap
    exhausts get minimal gains


    forced induction is the only real way to get a noticeable gain, but then bye bye mpgs, cause you don't buy a corvette to watch grass grow

    port and polish intake manifold, supercharger, pulley for charger, lifted, tires, deckplate, (doing full engine build)
    I am going all in on horse power. And could give a shit about gas mileage. You will gain nothing size able or noticeable unless you put down 2k+ and then you can start burning more dead dinosaur juices.

    LEER Shell with dome lights operated with 3 way switches, aux backup lights with relay and 3 position switch, modified wiring to compass/temp display and clock to include switch that disables dimming function (poor man's DRL solution), Scan Gauge 2
    Increase in HP=Trade Taco for Tundra:D

    Increase in MPG=Trade Taco for Corolla.

    Best compromise is probably a supercharger. But then, who cares about MPG. Cost of supercharger will pay for lots of gas. On second thought, leave it stock. Toyota spent lots of money engineering a decent compromise.:cool:

    Get a EMS, and tune it to have a little more timing than stock, and run a little leaner than stock.

    Add cam gears to cool the combustion chamber and evacuate the exhaust gases more quickly. To help with previous comment about EMS.

    it is a 2007 tacoma double cab ... completely stock. I pull a camper and really just looking for a little more hp only reason i even mentioned gas mileage is the last mustang i had when i put cold air intake on the mpg increased for all these smart@sses on here!!!

    You'll definitely pick up power with an Afe or URD intake. Gas mileage will be most dependant on gas pedal, tire pressure and all sorts of other factors.

    I have a 2011 V6 Taco 6" lift. Avg mileage 18-20. I didn't see any improvement after intake/exhaust changes, until I changed the clutch fan to an electric and got a BullyDog Watch dog to show me where I was wasting fuel.
    PS. I have Manual Trans. I don't think you can get this mileage with a Auto.
