short shifter...

I had shortened the shift lever on my 1996 Tacoma and installed a 1960's style Hurst "cueball" shift knob, and didn't want to lose it so I tried removing the shifter assembly from the 1996 and installing it on my 2012, and dang if it didn't fit perfectly!

Where else could you directly swap parts between a 17 year old vehicle and a new one?
This is what I like about Toyotas.
