URD 70mm Throttle body

    Thanks for the info Super Werty! I did not think the bolt pattern was different. So just to clarify the URD adapter has an opening of 65MM or 70MM? I was told 65MM but they do not specify on URD's website. I'll have to take the throttle body off and measure the inlet on the S/C where the TB bolts up.

    The URD 70mm adapter has a 70mm opening. It has a bolt pattern on one side to fit the factory 70mm plenum or TRD blower(which I believe is also 70mm, but not confirmed)..... and on the other side of the adapter is a bolt pattern to accept the 70mm throttle body.

    The adapter has 8 holes in it...not 4

    just realized while thinking about this that the 2010 FJ with the 70mm throttle body must have a different TRD blower...or maybe 2010+ FJ doesnt have a TRD blower? Im not sure.

    You bring up a great point Werty. I cannot find any TRD S/C for 2010+ FJ or 4Runner everywhere I look states they have not released one for the 2010+ models which all of those have the 70mm TB. I'm just gonna have to measure my inlet and see if its 70mm or more. If it is I will be throwing a 70mm TB and URD adapter on it for sure. But I'm currently out of town on business so I'll just have to wait unless someone else would be willing to take the measurement.

    It has been confirmed thanks to hottacoX on XRU that the TRD S/C inlet is in fact ONLY 65MM. But it does appear to be enough material there to open it up to 70MM. Now only to decide on whether or not to attempt to do this.

    I do need a new base line because I just installed a 2.85. I'm tempted to do this not sure best way to go about it. I was looking at port and polish kits in summit. They are a little higher than I expected. Also, what do you think about doing this with the blower still on the truck?

    definitely not worth it. Youre going to end up porting just the opening of the blower and it will shrink right back down at that first squeeze/bend

    Ever thought about getting a intake spacer? Or losing the mechanical fan for a electric one? Those should give you more mid to top end torque and free up horsepower.

    well I may have just solved the FJ guys problems

    Buy a 65mm throttle body off a Tacoma and the TRD blower should work perfectly on the FJ. I wonder if the TRD reflash is tacoma specific

    That is because the dual VVT-I 1GR is inherently weak, and blows to easily. Every aspect of that short block is prone to failure. Those guys would be better off swapping in a single VVT-I 1GR and then adding boost. Then putting the 70 mm TB on. ;)

    This week i've installed a 70mm throttle body with the URD adapter plate(70 to 65 mm).

    First i've polished inlet port on the TB.

    The i've installed firts the adapter plate and realized that the opening on the SC was even smaller then the 65 mm part of the adapter. Plus, the inlet part of the SC is very irregular so i've installed a vacuum and polish the Inside of inlet of the SC using the adapter plate as a Template.

    I can't say if it changes something but it's sure it's not worts than before.

    I've done the fuel pump and it definetly change the AFR from 11.5-12 to 10 over 4500 rpm. So i'll have to correct my fuel map.

    Put in some good work there. :thumbsup: Did you happen to get any pictures?

    Clearly getting plenty of fueling now! Since you have the new pump installed but likely the FPR mod still on as well, try swapping that to no FPR mod, and we what your AFR's look like.

    Yeah, i want to swap back to no OEM FPR just after few adjustments on my fuel map to run between 11 and 11.5 AFR.

    When back on OEM layout for the FPR i will see the real impact on AFR and i want to see if it gonna change a strange behavior of the truck that, i think, appeared after the FPR mod. At low RPM, when hitting the gas, there is a huge hesitation.
