So, I am reading this right. K&N is great but you would see a drop in gas mileage, but a little more power?

Oh yeah, anyone used K&N oil filters? If so, what do you think? (Good or bad)

lots of people have been using k&n filters, and results have been good and bad. the filters arent bad filters per say, but in tests, they dont do all that well, as they let alot more dust thru than other filters. the most problems people have with them however, are when they clean them.....they over oil them, and it has a tendency to foul out the maf sensor, and the truck/car runs like crap til the sensor is cleaned. if you get one, just dont over oil it, and you'll be fine. i have had them before, and never had a problem, although, nowadays, i'll stick with a filter that doesnt have to be oiled, such as the afe pro dry s or the aem non oiled filter(gonna get one or the other soon). all you do is clean and dry these, and reinstall.

Thanks Tacomaman06. I think i will try the K&N air filter. Sounds like the key is not to put too much oil. Cheers.

alot of people are using them and are saying that gas mileage increase is pretty good with them, and on the plus side.........you dont have to oil them. this is one of the dry filters i was reffering to..........and i will be getting one sometime soon. i like them casue you dont have toil them when you clean them, there for the maf sensor cant get fouled out.:)

I had posted a thread the other day asking questions about this. I installed a TRD exhaust and a K&N CAI (made my truck loud as hell). In the past week I have noticed a huge increase in MPG as well as horespower. The box didn't say anything about oiling like the drop in filter said. I am still wondering if anyone has this combo on their truck? I like it so far but it has only been a week. Not sure about long term effects.

yeah, anytime you add an intake to an exhaust on your truck, it will definitely make it louder, but it still sounds great most of the time. and you'll still need to clean/reoil the k&n every so often, to keep it filtering right.

Alright, I got my first K&N filter. I thought I have to oil it first or is it already preoiled? Anyone know?
