cleaning afe filter

i have the AFE CAI stage 2 with the pro5-r filter. the question is, can i use K&N cleaner and oil on this AFE filter?

 

I'm sure someone will chime in
as to what's the proper cleaning method for dry filters...

But you don't want to oil a filter element that wasn't designed for that.

I'm sure the pleat holes are smaller on this element...
and using oil on that would likely clog it up in no time.

K&N has specific holes sizes in their pleat material...
The oil actually decreases the opening size of the pleat's holes.
As well... act like a dust magnet for particulate.

This helps improve the filtration of dirt... while still allowing good air flow.
A properly oiled K&N filter element should remain somewhat dirty to be effective.

 

The Pro 5R isn't dry.

 

I have heard k&n oil is not the same as afe oil.

Afe is supposed to be maf sensor friendly to an extent.
