Has anyone done a cold air in-take on their taco? I have a new 2013, just did the Cat Back TRD exhaust. Now I want to do the cold air box.

I went with the URD TCAI and am 100% happy with it. One of the best mods to date. I hear good things about the AFE offering as well. Good luck with the CAI, you'll dig it.

THE CAI on our TACO's is constricted though. It has small holes going out to the wheel well.

Wut? That doesn't make sense. The only difference is maybe a slighty wider tubing. I HAVE a TRD CAI, and I can say first hand there's no noticeable improvement other than more BRAAAAAP. Short of a dyno tune or Maf Cal, you're not gonna see huge improvements with bolt on stuff. These engines are tuned pretty darn well. Lets keep Forced induction out of this, shall we :D

Any CAI you buy uses the exact same hole that the STOCK intake uses. The only difference is that the stock intake has a cup going through the inner fender to prevent shit from getting up into it. With my CAI, I just put on fiberglass fenders, now I have giant gaping hole in the side of the truck that air is being pulled into the engine through and I'm having to rig something up to prevent shit from getting up into it.

    Call gadget at urd .....

The stock intake box itself is the problem..... I can't remember if its the turns, the accordion bullshit, or the baffles.

He's been on the dyno more often than the majority of folks here spew bad information.... And that's a lot.

Run with all filters, no secondary filter, zero filer at all achieved no gains.

Getting rid of the stock airbox achieved gains.

Call him or email him.....its a lot easier than repeating wrong information.

If the nearest dyno wasn't 300 miles away, I'd prove it myself...... At the rate of all the unsupported theories spread as fact, I may just make the road trip and do a run stock intake vs afe.

Then again I've got way more than an intake installed so I dunno if my gains from an intake swap will be more dramatic than others.
7 grand in go fast parts will prolly pull more performance out of an intake than others.

Gains will not be from colder air..... Bone stock draws ambient. As verified by ultragaug, scan gauge, and torque... No other intake will draw colder air than ambient unless ur running an ice box.

    Google that if u want

I am considering a new intake also, not for performance but this weekend when checking the filter I still had some fines getting through the filter. My friend showed me his ... AFE Brute force? intake that was taking out all the fines.

In NV dust can be a real issue so even just a intake that's easy to clean and reusable would be nice to have.

Anyway, anybody have any suggestions on keeping the fine particles out? I did change the filter a hair over 3k miles ago, maybe just need a new one?

    Thanks!
