Safari vs Airflow Snorkels

What's the Donaldson P/N for that? Link?

 

its the topspin filters. i think i the article i saw was in taco magazine. it was a race-truck that had the Donaldson topspin and was flying around at 70+

So if you have a snorkel (specifically the Airflow) and you are driving normally through snow/heavy rain, are you supposed to turn the hood around? Should you then not drive above 15 mph like Airflow states?

I'm new to anything about snorkels, so just trying to learn more.

It has a water separator in the hood so water shouldn't get through to the intake. I think you only turn it around on trails below 15 mph so it don't get snagged on anything? Someone will clarify.

i had issues with water getting into my intake during a big snow storm coming over some passes...real heavy wet snow...it built up in my hood and began coming into the intake...soaked through my filter and soaked my MAF sensor fucking with my truck enough to where i had to pull over, take my intake all apart and let everything dry

it could be the design of the airflow hood versus the safari? or it could be that in that situation even the safari design would have had issues...i don't know

the airflow has a significantly larger opening and the sarafi design also angles down in the front that could help in snow/rain conditions to limit the amount of water from even hitting the inside of the hood

both designs have water channels in the sides of the hoods that in normal rain/snow conditions, will allow the water to escape the hood, outside of the intake tube, preventing water from getting in the intake..

a pre-filter is a way to ensure NO water will get in under heavy rain/snow conditions and greatly improves the filtration of dust before hitting your engine filter

For all the Airflow people out there...have yall had any issues with heavy rain storms and water getting to the airfilter? Down in the south we get some pretty nasty thunderstorms and hurricanes and dont want to mess anything up.

Safari fits like ass. Airflow fits perfect. Safari offers lots of restriction. Airflow is huge and smooth. What else is there?

I've driven through some SERIOUS snow and rain storms. And haven't had any issues with water getting in yet.

 

Ive read all the pages but looking for personal experiences withe the Airflow's in heavy rain.

So..... How much does the Airflow stick up above the roof line????? IE Top of the roof to top of the snorkle intake.

 

Since Mike already bumped this one, may as well tell anyone looking that I'm now a dealer for airflow, so if anyone's interested, PM me.

 

Went and measured mine and its about 5" above. There is room to hack off about 1" of tube to bring it down some if you'd like it a bit lower.

 

Is that from the edge of the roof straight across to where it intersects with the line of the snorkel? Or is that to the highest point of the roof.

 

Highest point of the roof. I didn't break out a straight line to get an exact measure but its close.
