drop in filter and exhaust ?

    Stock but not for long
    i have been looking at drop in filters and exhaust are these two actually worth getting performance wise or for better mpg?

    Search is your friend here. But the short answer is a drop-in filter's value is basically not having to buy a filter again. Keep in mind though that an oiled filter will require cleaning solution and oil over it's lifetime.

    As for the exhaust, you "might" get a few ponies way up top, but if you are staying NA, an exhaust mod is about noise.

    I ran a K&N drop in for 7 yrs with zero issues. I felt it was worth the money. The gain is not huge but neither is the price. I recently installed the TRD cat-back and I also like that very much. Not too loud and mine does not drone at all, sounds great to my ears. I also feel that it pulls better on the top end. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    I've done both upgrades on the 2001 GMC Sonoma that I just traded for a 2013 Taco. Neither provided a performance or MPG improvement. I used a Magnaflow CAT back exhaust. It did make the truck sound better but at $500 it really wasn't worth the cost.

    Expect for new wheels, I have the stock steel rims, my new Taco will stay stock.
