    For racetrack use of course.

    Butt yea probably.

You'll probably get more support from the X-runner forum.

I'd also like to know because the limiter is cutting off my dyno runs.

Is there an adult here who can offer a serious answer?

The hypertech tuners used to remove the limiter on chevys so maybe another handheld tuner will do it too?

Serious answer is that it can be done, but it requires programming code modification. While this is fine for a street only vehicle, a vehicle that is street and track driven, it may be considered illegal. If you can find a performance shop that does computer programming you would be able to find someone who can do it, or knows someone who can do it. Either way the ECU programming has to be edited and changed, and this requires more than just a simple code reader or scan tool.

There are no hand held tuners that flash/re-flash the 2gen ECU.

And talking about excessive speed will and has netted thread locks FYI.

    non off road of course.

Unichips can remove the speed limiter. But I wouldnt waste the $600 for their plug n play kit just to remove the limiter or the unit itself. I have one and the "tune" on the piggyback ecu is garbage.

    Thanks Bama. :)
I was just curious about a simple, easily reversible way to temporarily disable it for dyno testing. My little 2.7 won't go fast enough to hit the speed limiter on the road. :turtleride:

It's better not to have anyone changing the programming when I have no understanding of what they're doing.

    Sorry, Sandman...
I wasn't referring to you personally.

    Thanks.
So the Tundra consensus is that pulling the ABS #2 disables the speed control and also the speedometer. I'll try that at the dyno shop and see what happens.

I'd never mess around with this stuff in a moving vehicle, but won't hesitate to do it when it's stationary on the dyno.

    Curious about this one myself.

Works, but definitely not the best way to do it. Nor safe for the engine.

Larger tires will net you the ability to go faster than the speed limiter. As long as you have enough power. Plenty of times had I been well past the speed cut while tuning the MAP-Ecu2. But, once the needle hits the magic number, it would still cut it. Even though I was going faster than what it showed.

An aftermarket ECU which controls the TB will allow you to set your own speed limiter. Or a cable TB will remove it as well. But at that point, you need an aftermarket ECU because the OEM ECU doesn't like loosing its TPS signal.

My wheels are stock diameter so the engine gets cut off at about 4,800, but it's pretty much throwing in the towel by then anyways. With the LCE header and stock exhaust the engine is already effectively hitting its peak torque at just 3,150rpm. The stock torque peak is 3,800rpm.

It's ok because I'm only testing for really low end torque anyways. Got this test to start just below 1,500rpm so The next test will show whether or not there is any difference right at the bottom.

Yeah, I hear you. It's a can of worms I'm not going to open when I can still get the dyno information I need without touching anything.

I have a 04 super duty 6.0 diesel that has a controller on it. With the controller turned up to the higher HP settings it has insane power. What really sucked about the limiter on it was when you pulled out to pass on a 2 laner, it has so much power it gets to the limit speed sooooo fast then just stops pulling. You would think it's no big deal but it happens so fast then stops pulling and it's a little freaky the first time it happens. I never had my taco on the limiter yet so I don't even know what it's set at.
