What could be wrong

I have a 05 SR5 v-6 and when I go up a steep hill and barely give it fuel it seems to miss. I got to looking on it and however had it before me has put a ultimate performance tuning chip on it where the Mass air flow sensor is. I don't know nothing about this things but was wondering if it could be that causing it to miss or maybe plugs. Also should I put a new MAF sensor on it and get rid of the chip?

 

If this is the only thing that has been modified on the truck then maybe.....then again, it is an 05, might need a GOOD tune-up.

 

I would get rid of that chip. I'm not saying it is causing issues but anything is possible. There really is not a chip for these trucks to magically pull more power out of them. Only a supercharger or the like can pull more power amount to anything.

 

Take out the silly chip first.

Check all your spark plugs and coil boots for carbon tracking.

Next, how many miles does your truck have?

 

It has 133,000 miles

 

Quite possibly the MAF sensor tuning thingy, as well as your fuel filter looking like this on the inside.



150K miles on that filter. Car wouldn't start or run until fuel filter was changed.
