Fuel Filter change?

    Color Match Grille, Bed mat, Kings with JBA UCA's, Dakars and 34" BFG KM3, Snugtop Canopy, and my "Marshall Fabrication" Rock Sliders.
    I got a new fuel filter and tryed changing it. But hesitated in doing it bc I had a hard time getting it out. I didn't want to bend the fuel lines or anything. Is there a trick or something to doing this? Should I have my local machanic just do it? Some help Please!!! :confused:

    I had a '99 Xtra Cab PreRunner SR5 V6
    You need a flare nut wrench set to get the nuts loose around those fuel lines. It was a PITA the one time I did it.

    I got the nuts loose and off, but I didn't want to damage the lines. Is there something Im missing?

    So did you get the filter off? If so, you did it correct then. What's the question then?

    No, After getting everything loose, I couldnt get the lines out of the filter. And I didnt want to bend them or something. What could I do to get the lines out easier?

    You're supposed to leave the lines in place and undo the bolts on the filter and wiggle the filter out.

    When I did mine (on my 96)

    Disconnect the fuel lines from the body - nearest the fuel filter on both sides.

    This will give you enough play in the lines to remove the filter.

    Your is in th etank....cant change it as it is part of the fuel pump.

    Not verry often! poeple usually dont do it. Toyota says there good for the life time of the truck. But its a good idea to change them at around 60-80K miles I guess. (Wouldnt hurt!)

    Yep, but the lines were a PITA! Not enough slack to get them out, and I didnt want to bend the lines. Im ganna try and remove the brackets on both sides to give me more slack in the line. By the way, do I just pull on them and they pop off?
