JBA header installation experience

Going with Magnaflow exhaust and the Volant intake, but it seems that JBA owns the market for the headers. Would like to see an install guide to this so I know what to expect.

In inspecting the truck, it looks like it will have to be welded to a pipe extender to the catalytic convertor?

Going to talk the service guy at Toyota. Seems like a cool cat and maybe I can make him install the headers at least. The Mag and intake are very easy

Yea the JBA headers require that you cut the front cats off of the stock manifold and weld them to the headers.

There's also long tube headers out there, but they take out the front set of cats. Benefit to these is higher power and all bolt-on.

How are these for leaks in the cold winter. I live in Ontario, Canada and it can get friggid.

Does taking out the front cat violate emissions laws? I have to get an inspection every year in PA for emmissions.

Yes, im sure it would violate emissions, but on the bright side, when it comes time for emissions you can always put the stock manifolds back on.

i believe theres 2 sets of cats up there and you could get away with taking out the set closest to the headers.. maybe.

taking the first set out would throw a CEL without and O2 SIM. Those are the only ones that are monitored by O2 sensors. you could pull the rear two and get away with it. I do in VA

Anyone know what the HP/TQ increase is with running the JBA headers and a full custom exhaust with Hi Flow cats? Dang Smog rules...

Also save money and do not ceramic coat them. That is a old hot rod trick to keep motor temps down. all new cars use heat scavenging so as you move the heat is sucked out of the motor bay. Last the ceramic coat make the headers not last as long as all the head is forced in the metal. Just a little $$ saving FYI...

Off topic a bit but how do you like the Volant and Head Combo? Still am torn between AFE and Volant for the intake but plan on doing the JBA headers.
