Scangauge II A/F Ratio

I found these codes on another forum and they give me a readout but I'm not sure if its accurate.

Can anyone with a scangauge and who has an A/F Gauge hooked up let me know if this works for them. I am getting readings between 13.5-14.5 but mostly 14.5 if this is correct I am running very lean.

 

here's the rest of the codes if anyone wants to try. They work on tundras but they say its supposed to work on tacomas 05 and up also.

at what throttle position? Up to a certain TPS, your stock maps should be in that range, its when you get into WOT that you should be worried if it is that lean.

 

ok just wanted to see if the numbers match up to someone who has a dedicated a/f gauge hooked up. yeah it sits at 14.5 or so idle and low speeds, dips down when at wot to maybe 12.xx Was looking into gettin an a/f gauge but if this is in the range I don't need to.

 

what mods do you have? usually stock n/a it will dip into the 10s. I just added the code to my scanguage and tonight when i go out tonight and hook it up to my X-1 Xtune software. Only thing that is bad about the scanguage is it doesnt read as fast, but i believe if you have all 4 on the display set on the a/f it will read quicker.

 

SO what exactly is "X-gauge"? I know you can add your own gauges but how do you go about doing it? I bought my ScanGauge II prior to July 20th, 2007, so I know I would have to send it in with $25. Is it worth it?

 

have the trd charger with ecu flash and gibson exhaust, that's it. I didn't do much driving around yet but was just hoping someone with a real gauge can test this to see if the numbers read close. Yeah the gauge is pretty slow to react but as long as it's ballpark it'll be good enough for me untill I can buy a gauge and pod.

 

It just allows you to customize your own options like instant horsepower and stuff like that. on their site you can find a list of different codes you can input to monitor other things that the regular gauge can't.

 

it allows you yourself to add the new gauges they come out with, instead of sending it back in for a update. So send it back in once, and then as they create new features for different cars, they update their site.

Mine always displays mph, fIA, fWT, and TPS.

 

If so, anyone try them?

Hey Jax, let me know what you think when you are done, our mods are similar. After warming up the truck the A/F read right about 14.7ish. While driving around in cloosed loop it never went above 14.8 and depending on TP i'd say it went as low as 13.8. WOT = 12-12.5 ish. I believe this to be pretty close to optimal performance via the APR Tune that was loaded in my unit without any further tuning from myself.

Reason Im looking for your opinion, is cause I need to know if you think we can trust these readings, and also need to know if you have done any tuning to the unit since installing?

Reason Im concerned about fuel trims is since studying Gadgets PDF for U-tune; seems the stock computer is always trying to dump more fuel and keep the motor rich. Well, when tuning w/my previous MAF cali, optimal fuel trims were supposed to balance to about zero, w/the short term trims being hardest to maintain. Since installing my X-1, I monitored the trims w/my LM-2. Reading showed short term fighting and holding right about zero... but the Long term kind of hold steady @ -10ish...

Anybody have any info or knowledge on wether this is optimal. My A/F ratio is right at the sweet spot, just wondering if I should fine tune the fuel trims And if thats the case, OMG; im dreading messing with the XTune software LOL... Might have to take a trip and visit Gadget

do you have a laptop rox? to be able to log a file, youll need one. But it allows you to really tune the truck well, and send it over to me i can review it for you and make some changes if youd like.
