I just bought a new 2014 double cab Baja edition tacoma and had the TRD Supercharger installed on it. I was wondering if anyone out there has pro or con about also installing a TRD or similar cold air intake kit.......any info is greatly appreciated!

Do it. And headers, fuel pump, smaller pulley, Y-pipe, and gauges.

I would NOT use the current TRD intake.
It was designed with the wrong diameter tube size and neither Toyota nor K&N (the actual manufacturer) brothered to fix it. This is the intake that's all black plastic with TRD molded on top with red lettering and a few lines in red. It also has the telltale K&N filter gauge on the side. Also comes with a flat K&N panel filter.

Get the AFE stage 2 Si instead.
This one is proven and has been used for years on many n/a and supercharged Tacoma's with ZERO problems

It was molded from the Fj iirc.

Feel free to measure, I'm not buying one for sure.

K&N fubar'd the design, Gadget gave the specifics on xru somewhere, others have had check engine lights here and there, and that's def enough for me.

The afe has been run for yrs with no complaints.

    On my buy list..

    I have heard of CEL's with K-N, and TRD's...never aFe's...coincidence maybe...but I'm a realist....

Turbulence across the MAF is one main problem. As soon as it came out, there were people complaining about it. Very poor design. I don't remember one way or another if the ID of the tube is different. Wouldn't surprise me though.

Didn't think it would be as much of a difference when I threw in the TRD first gen CAI about a month after the S/C, but you can feel it. The S/C whine Sounds a lot better too and the throttle response down low is better with a harder hit up top...

Sure does, a nicer deeper whine rather than a high pitched sounds like you're- truck- is- in- reverse- all- the- time whine. :burnrubber:
