Cold air intake

I just purchased an 04 Dble Cab Tacoma V6 and fund out that it only gives me 19 mpg. I am hoping someone had this problem and could tell me if by switching out my intake it would help and if it does what kind of intake should i purchase???

I work for Toyota and your mileage is actually right on. A cold air intake might help for 1-2 mpg if you have a light foot. The problem which I encountered is that with my JBA headers and Magnaflow exhaust plus the "whoop" sound of the cold air intake, it made me drive more aggressively in the beginning, but now I have backed off. I have a K&N intake myself but you should be able to find plenty of threads on intakes. Good luck!

you may be able to actually keep your stock intake, and just do the deckplate mod......which should yield you some more ponies as well as more mileage!!

I had the AFE CAI in 07 FJ Cruiser and I dont think my mileage got any better. In fact, the sound it made was so addicting,I am sure I got worse mileage. The engines from what I can tell are pretty much the same...

Not sure if it's really worth it...to be honest....

I have a 2004 dbl cab V6 w/ 4wheel drive. I live in SW, VA in the mountains and I average 22-23 miles to the gallon. Since you don't have 4x4 maybe you need a full tune up. Something to look into.

Yes I will be doing a 60,000 mile service at the dealer in a couple of weeks, maybe that will help out. I also just put a cold air intake by volant and it looks and sounds good. I don't know if it will give me more mpg since its sounds good I sometimes like to push it a little but I think it was a good investment. And thank for your time.

Save yourself some cash man and do the deck plate mod. There is a write up on the link below.
