I've only been on the freeway a couple of times now and am running about 2500 @ 65mph I need to re-cal my Ultragauge and get a good reading I will post it after the break-in period but that sounds about right I don't drive over 70mph anyway unless I'm hooked up to a set of doubles with 90+ octane.

That's pretty high rpms for 65 mph. MPG is gonna bring the suck for sure.

Not even 100 yet, I know it should be about 200 difference but at this point it is not so maybe after the break-in period it will settle. I was realy on the line about the gears but the only thing that pushed me towards the 88's was the little extra power for pushing those heavy 35" tires.

So far I'm at 17.5 but like I said I have not even come close to breaking it in yet. On 33's I was getting 18.5 and Eric can attest to that.

You 4 cylinder? For v6 4.56 and 35's is damn near stock, literally. Even with 37's 4.56s are closer to stock than the 4.88s and have plenty of power. Now with the 40's, I should be higher than 4.56 but with the dual t-cases I still have plenty of gear.

From what I understand it realy is not a whole lot of difference I have looked at all the scales and stats and talked to people who wheel and work with and on them for a living, I can only say after the break-in period I will see how much of a difference but I don't think I made a bad choice.

It will be interesting to see what MPG I get with the 4.56 gears and auto trans. Gears and lockers are waiting to be installed. I know the 4.0 V6 motor will be spinning faster at cruise on the freeway, but it will not be loaded down so much. I have plate bumpers at both ends, Warn M8000 winch up front, full steel skids on the bottom, sliders, and a rack in the bed, a big box of recovery gear and the RTT up in the wind most of the time. On stock gears (3.73) the truck would shift out of top gear on any but the slightest uphill grade while on the freeway on cruise control at 70 mph. Now I 'spose it will be spinning up all the time, but I should be able to pull top gear. Plus I can run my 33.2" tall 255/85 tires and have good pulling power with all this weight.

My front diff was leaking because a few bolts worked loose. I will be bringing it in soon to have it resealed. Talked to a friend and he said the same thing happened to him. I will post a picture of the bolts I am talking about so you guys can double check yours.

I am glad I caught it before too much leaked out.

I like the IDEA of running 35" tires, but after reading the thread (35" tires, no body lift) it seem like a lot of body mods to have clearance for the 35" tires, plus they are expensive and I have a new set of 33's.

Its not hard to fit the 35's. Fender trim, cab mount chop, and a sledge to the firewall. Simple...

That said I am still working on clearance issues.

Dirty 5's isn't something you should consider if you plan on trading the truck in anytime soon. The modifications required are not easily reversible. They are bad ass, but not for everyone.

Things that need to be handled.
    - Fenders and flares need to be trimmed
    - cab mount needs extensive trimming
    - firewall needs to be beaten back
    - wheel liners need to be removed
    - If you remove the liners you need to consider how to protect your intake.
    - Should regear to (4.56 or 4.88)

That is what I'm talking about BT! Your Standard Cab looks great as allways.

Who installed the diff? Reason I ask it that long side section is what you reuse from your diff when swapping in a built one from ECGS, whoever did your install didn't torque them properly when bolting up the longside to the clamshell.

    Good thing you caught it.

It wasn't a complete third swap either. It was a full install. They did a great job meshing them, but dropped the ball on this. I look over everything on my truck weekly. I know I push it hard so I am always checking on it.

I am familiar with the entire rig and try to have as few people work on my rig as possible. You can be in this hobby and not be familiar with everything.

LoadedTaco, I agree with you on all you said, I did not start my Mods until I had paid the truck off and even then waited a few years. It is a very clean 05 that replaced my 91 4 banger. I only go to two people to work on the truck if needed and they both have very good reps. I have learned a heep here on TW so I am always reading and researching whenever I need to do something to the truck. I am keeping this truck it is my retirement present to myself so I started to get deep into the mods but I can only go so far with a 2wd, but who knows I had no plans to mod it at all when I bought it. Life.

I honestly don't remember. Are you referring to 65 MPH on the factory speedometer, or 65 MPH on the calibrated Ultragauge?
