I was thinking about putting a cold air intake in my 2002 5-speed 4 cylinder. Anybody out there tried this? Does it help the power at all and is it worth the money

Do a "Deck plate Mod" search.

I did some research and watched some videos on that. Looks pretty easy and I'll probably do it. Only thing is everything on it said increased gas mileage. Will it help the power or acceleration at all?

I doubt it increases mpg, i'd go so far as to say it can't increase mpg.

But it might increase hp. At least is much as a aftermarket intake.

Honestly, do not waste your money. You're better off spending the money on gasoline and driving with a little heavier foot... You won't realize any gains from it.

I've seen multiple 4 bangers with it done online. In fact all the write ups I've seen on it has been 4 cyl and they all said it makes a noticeable difference in throttle response

dont get your panties in a bunch. did I say it couldn't be done?

    no.

the mod was designed for the 6cyl and has been altered to accommodate the 4cyl air box. its easier to work with the larger airbox.
