Has anyone ever had any issue with excessive oil consumption. My X-Runner is using a lot of oil, only have 97000 km. Never had any issue for the pass 4 years and all of a sudden it burning oil. No smoke but black tail pipe, plugs had a thick deposit on them. Check compression, 205 to 210 on all 6. It idles at 700 rpm and smooth, acceleration is good, mpg is bad as usual. Might be time for a V8 swap?

Holy crap dude. Sorry i should have ask liters i guess but u figured it out it seems. I got nothing, but u could put an oil catch can on and atleast not be burning it. Not an expert but since it has to be coming out of ur pcv if ur not leaving puddles everywhere i guess u kinda have a starting point.

Might want to do a leakdown test instead. That should pin point the actual problem in the cylinder head. Probably one of the valves seals are going bad.

Been checking that engine and talk to different mechanics. Did install a oil catch can and no oil going by the good PCV valve. Did an engine flush as recommended from Toyota and put fresh oil in with filter. Will check oil level at next fill up. If no change, time to check the valve guide seals. Only place were the oil can get by. Will go and get a price $$$$$ at Toyota for that job.

Not really. A stuck oil control ring will allow both oil consumption and not show on a compression test. It's why Toyota recommends the 'flushing', in an attempt to free the ring(s)

If a leakdown test proves its in the head, please don't waste your $ at the dealer.

If you don't want to refresh them yourself, at least remove them and take them to a machine shop to be done for you. (90% odds what a dealership will do)

Or buy fully reconditioned heads from a third party (like http://www.cylinder-heads.com/ (no affiliation)) and bolt them on yourself. (10% chance what a dealership will do)

If you are wrench-phobic, find an independent mechanic to do the work.

Anything but a dealership for non warranty major work.
