    Finally took it for a drive last Sunday to get an alignment, was running bad, multiple misfires, same codes I was getting prior. I'm thinking I got a bad tank of gas, because the ride home after that fill up in October was my last. I have dropped the tank and drained the gas and fuel lines as well. I am about to put the tank back in and fill with 5 gallons of fresh gas to see what happens.

    Fingers crossed thst cures it. Just returned from Kozmic Motorsports, after having them tune it. Runs great! A few more things to finish before MSR tomorrow. Hopefully you can still make it!

    Did you do the ARP main studs as well? If so, did G&G cut the threads up the shoulders, for you?

    Couldn't find the specs on them. Do you have the info?

    Also, gas was definitely bad, but not the only issue I'm dealing with. My drivers side bank is 90-100 psi, so I'm tearing it apart again. Have it down to the timing chain now, hopefully taking the heads off this weekend. I thing my piston ring gaps are lined up, the compressor I used sucked. Or maybe my head gasket didn't line up right.

    For some reason I thought you had them already. They are 2JZ head studs. Except that the shoulders on the studs needs to be hit with a die to add more threads, or the shoulder needs to be trimmed down. It prevents the studs from being able to be fully installed and bottomed out.

    I have a bad #2 cylinder myself. Literally just recently found out that my torque wrench was messed up by my friend. Unbeknownst to me until just recently. Which means than none of the high torque number parts, in my current spare engine, are properly torque'd down. Including head studs. :facepalm: Mine will be coming apart soon for repairs as well.

    Yeeesh, how did you find out it was not torquing correctly? I bought this one (Kobalt) new before my teardown so I assumed it was accurate.

    He told me, a few days before race day, that he had loosened until it "stopped" Well below the lowest torque number. He was apologetic, as he hadn't known any better until that conversation.

    In addition to the head studs possibly being lose, the intake cam gear wasn't aligned properly. I had to order a new one and rebuilt the engine again. Primed oil today and tested compression cold, then fired it up! It's running great, very smooth and no leaks or weird noises. Good compression and oil / fuel pressure, need an alignment and inspection / registration. Note to self: less beers when building engine...pay attention! I'm lucky I didn't bend any valves or mess anything else up, I drove it for like 10-12 miles in that condition misfiring on all cylinders on bank 2 and a misaligned cam gear, tsk tsk!

    Man, I was wondering when there would be a good news update. I am really excited for you, that you were able to not only find the problem, but not have any valve/piston damage as well. It could have been much worse. All turned out well, and thank you for sharing what the problem was. :thumbsup:

    Engine is running very nice, smooth steady idle and strong even though I've been taking it easy. I put a good 60+ miles on it today, in Houston traffic no less, and nothing but some minor work to do. Small power steering leak, exhaust leak somewhere...and a minor vacuum leak around the throttle body adapter. Also, not happy with the brakes, but I've got a plan for that.

    Be happy you have the 4 piston calipers instead of the 1 pistons of the 5 lug trucks. It'd be much worse... :eek:

    Have you tried bleeding the brakes for the interim?

    I got the 76mm off eBay and the adapter from URD, the back of the TB wasn't very flat and I have already worked on it some, I may just use a thin layer of gasket material.

    I did a bad thing, despite all the warnings I converted the rear drums to discs...:D

    I have a new MC, some 1/2" plate to make an adapter, as well as a proportioning valve for the rears...just need to do the work.

    Definitely make a gasket for the TB adapter. I had to add it to prevent it from leaking.

    One of these days I'll swap to rear disks as well. With most likely an AP Racing adjustable proportioning valve. Necessary at this point.
