So has anyone done this to a 2nd gen and how did you go about it since there isnt room for a 4" deckplate?

i just put the deck plate mod on my 02 v6 taco and i love the way it sounds and feels but i didnt read anything about having to put silicone sealer on it until now. With that being said do I need to take it off and put silicone sealer on the back side of the plate? and if i do does it go in between the filter box and the part of the deck plate thats bolted to the box?

alot of people havent used silicone and havent had any problems. its a good idea to use it tho, cause it'll keep moisture out when the deck plate is screwed in. i'd take the box out and run silicone behind the part that screws to the airbox, screw it back on to the box and let it sit a while. then, you wont have to worry about anything.

i doubt your filter will be wet at all. i have ran my truck with the deckplate not screwed in for the past 10 months...even offroading, and the only thing that has gotten in the airbox, besides dust, was a lil mud when i hit some good mud pits.

I followed the deckplate advice from a couple guys on here and just cut a 4" hole (will put in the plate later) and instantly saw a gain in power and better sound in my 01 3.4L! Why spend $150-300 on a CAI?

I've been looking around for the best muffler for HP/deep sound and the selection for a 01 3.4L Xtra seems limited. What's a good one?

    x2

best thing for the 2nd gens is removing the secondary filter(even tho thats here and there) and buying a good drop in filter.
