im kinda new to camshafts. so i was wondering if there is anything bad or "cons" about putting in a custom grind camshaft on a stock engine? and what would you have to replace like valve springs?

Not sure about pros & cons, but as far as the 1GR, I believe there is only one vendor making them for our motors...

They actually came out with several grinds to accomadate both NA & FI...

I'll tell you that the parts & install will be up there in price. I installed cam gears couple months ago, took me 4-5ish hours total from start to finish. Local shops and dealer quoted me at 10hrs install time.

If you think this will be a job you can tackle, I'd say have at it... But im sure the actuall Cams will receive a higher quote then what I was given for just the gears.

Check out XR Underground. Do a search for performance cams. Some good reading there, but no one has done an install and review for this Mod as of yet.

    Good luck.

ttc performance is the company that sources the 1gr cams. 1600 for the cams, 400-500 for the bucket shims. so 2k+ for a cam setup, is pretty steep, and no one has any reviews or anything yet.

I knew someone smart on this would chime in... And yeah, from what I've been reading; I'd go TRD SC instead.

im thinking with the overhead cam set up and the variable valve timing there might be very little gain over stock cams.

Could be true... I tell you that APR have done their homework, because retarding the exh cam gear has been a proven effect...
