Not for the cost, unless you really want to have cats back in there. If this was your first go, then yeah. Let's get those other issues on your truck fixed up first, then we can focus on this "possibility".

 

selling my URD headers would easily cover the cost of those Holly's tho. but true.. I think its just the winter weather/winter gas/etc.. that and the driveshaft..

I'll get it sorted out by the first of the year and go from there.

 

Any updates on these? Wondering if they are bolt up or if manifold bolts needs changing?

 

I didn't see this thread before I started one. I've got a Jeg's account, and the black ones are $275 there. Ceramics are $360. Trying to figure out if I want to chance it or not. Flowtech is a Holley brand, and Holley has a damn good rep (far as I'm aware), so it seems like a good bet.

 

Do you think these are better than thorleys?

 

I wound up buying URD Spec-U headers. I know they are not the cheapest option and the install is tougher than other LT's, but I'd buy them again any day.

Yes. Any LT header will require o2 sims

 

Would it be pointless to do headers without doing a Y pipe? I want a little bit of extra power but I still want my cats so I'm not too noisy and I can still pass emissions

 

You have 2 sets. Front and rear. The LT's ditch the fronts, the Y has the 2nd set. I had them weld in 2 new cats when they made my Y.. So I have one set still

 

Oh yeah, you got the custom y pipes made. Did you just buy like a URD y pipe and then weld cats into it, or are your pipes actually like custom custom?

 

URD cuts a deal on the O2 sensors when you buy the headers. The equal-lengths cut a bit of rasp from losing 2 cats and keep gains across the power band. URD dyno'd a stock v6 at a peak gain of 18rwhp and max of 22rwhp with no loss at low RPM. If you need to pass smog, idk because I'm registered in FL, which does not do emissions. You did not specify a state, either. Smog tests vary by state.

 

I'm from Colorado where they check for cats but I don't know if they would look for the upstream cats. But I also don't know if it's worth the risk which is why am thinking about just doing shorties and keeping all of my cats.

 

What do you guys think of AFE's twisted steel headers? They have high flow cats on them too.
