Poor Acceleration

My truck has never been quick at all by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems to have gotten worse in the last 2 or 3 months. Just this morning on the way to work I was outrun by a cobalt (non-ss), while trying to merge. I have the 2000 tacoma 2x4 prerunner with 3.4 engine and 4.10 gears. Any tips on boosting up my acceleration performance to a reasonable level, I'm not expecting grand results but I'm almost ashamed to drive it as of now so any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

 

Try running some combustion chamber cleaner through the engine. I like the Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner, but I also use Seafoam with about the same results.

 

It has 128,000 miles roughly and the motor and transmission are solid. Had the top end cleaned and tuned about 6 months ago with new plugs put in.

I've used seafoam ever 5k miles or so since I got the truck 2 1/2 years ago. I've always been told its great for the engine.

 

No, my mechanic recommended it but the belt+installation was over $400 because the front clip had to be removed to replace it I was told. I didn't have the money at the time to do it.

 

Ok, I'll look into getting that replaced. Thanks for the help, any other info I should know about?

 

Alright, I've got all of those tools except the special snap-on tool to hold the pulleys and the drill bits. Might look into pulling it apart sometime one coming up weekend.
