K&N Stock Filters

Hey guys! So i'm looking at buying a stock replacement air filter for the taco by k&n. I don't really have the loot to drop on a CAI right now so what are your thoughts on em?...is there a lil bit of a HP and Torque gain or should I just save my money and keep buying disposable one Thanks for your help guys

 

my preference is to go with a dry filter,like the afe pro dry s. the k&n filters are ok, but with a dry filter...all ya do is clean and dry it....no need to reoil...and they filter great also. if you get a k&n, just be sure to clean it pretty often and not to over oil it.

 

i have one. i didnt notice anything huge or anything, kind of accelerates smoother maybe. no significant gain in mpg either. id go for a dry filter too like afe pro dry s.

 

So far AFE Pro Dry S 2 and K&N 0 lol

 

lol yeah id say thats the way to go. dont get my wrong the k&n is good. just sucks you have to clean it and oil it every so often. plus you have to worry about over-oiling it and assing up your maf. id much rather have an afe where you dont have to oil it.

In terms of the K&N - people either like 'em or hate 'em.

I've owned several for various vehicles and never had problems. Keep 'em cleaned and don't over oil them. Currently, I have an AFE prodry filter.
The AFE is like a cleanable paper filter (if you ask me). The K&N has better airflow than the AFE. And - I've had my AFE in for about 1.5 years and I haven't cleaned it yet. With the K&N's I've owned....I cleaned them pretty often and mostly twice a year.

 

I used K&N drop ins on my last two cars and decided not to go that route this time.

With both cars the oil from the K&N filter would completely coat the MAF sensor and it would be black with sutty oil in a fairly short amount of time and this would happen over and over without re-oiling or anything. Talking from opening a brand new filter and putting it directly into the car with oil on it from the factory.

Also you could see where fine dust was getting through the filter rather easily.

I'd go dry.

 

save your money,but a cold air intake and be done with it hard to beat for $250

I think i'll just stick to the disposable ones and save for the CAI...But i do wanna try the AFE Dry Filter 1st

 

I got my sights set on the URD True CAI ...i'll have it in just a couple months This is exactly what'll look like
