    so.. i got a new cover for my TRD CAI.. since i opened the top.. i decided my filter needed to be cleaned.. took it out and there were some leaves in it.. some mud also.. i think i trimmed a little to much when i put my bumper on... anyone know what would be good to use to somewhat cover the intake hole.. but not completely? and another thing... i used K&N cleaner and oil.... you think it will mess up the filter?

    All i know is that eventually, the K&N oil that is the only thing to trap dirt, will/can mess up your Mass Air Flow Sensor. which is a very expensive sensor to replace. I know this from experience, and I work at Autozone. I know how expensive the parts are:D I really don't recommend a "Wet" filter i.e. anything that uses an oil to filter out dirt. I never recommend it (K&N) to my customers either. You're better off with the stock filter OR a drop in DRY filter. Thats my .02 I'm sure someone will chime it and offer other advice.

    Get a AFE dry filter.... Those will work on a TRD intake

    Its the same size and shape as ur TRD filter but this 1 is oil free and you can just wash it with soap and water:)

    cool.. i guess ill invest in that when next pay check somes... how much does the filter itself cost?

    yeah.. because i already got the TRD CAI installed.. just wondering how much the filter for the AFE is.. because ill just swap that out with the TRD one.. lol it should work right?

    Yea it'll work... AFE makes TRDs filters so in reality ur intake allready has an AFE filter lol... im not sure how much dey cost but im allso gonna get that dry filter.

    I have been looking @ the AFE dry filters to, the cheapest I have seen is around $45, I have also seen them listed for as much as $65. I just bought a TRD CAI & I dont think I will install it until I get a dry filter, although alot of people will tell you the MAF problems are due to people over oiling the filter after cleaning so who really knows.

    Yeah thats also what I have heard is people over oiling the filter which makes sense. Why would TRD make a product that would mess with the truck you know?:rolleyes:

    Anyone have a link for a dry filter that works with the TRD CAI? I used to have the AFE pro dry filter for my stock air intake but cannot find a cone shaped that would work in the TRD.

    URD has the aFe dry media filter in stock that is one inch longer than the one that comes in the TRD box and it fits. You get more filter area for better flow and more power. It is a great upgrade for the TRD intake.

    NO OIL!!

    Oh, don't use K&N oil on the TRD filters. The TRD filters are made by aFe and they have their own special vegetable based oil that does not mess up the MAF sensor. The K&N oil is dyno based and can certainly mess up the MAF sensor.

    So is filter that comes with the TRD CAI an AFE made oiled filter? And AFE model
    $84 21-90044 Universal Clamp On Filter
    21-90044 is the AFE dry pro (non-oiled) filter that will fit the TRD CAI?
