I got the TF CAI and installed it this morning. I did a quick job because I was late for work, so I will have to check it out tonight for any little changes I want to make.
Ok, it does not meet up with the hole in the fender. This means you are going to suck some warm air. But, I believe that with the truck moving down the road the hot air is kept to a minimum. I am going to see tonight if I can make changes to get it closer or a mod to fill the gap. We are talking 2 or 3 inches off the wall and 3 to 4 inches set to the side of the hole.

I paid $289 shipped and the workmanship is great, much better than the Volant I had (granted the Volant did make it to the hole...LOL).

Someone said on here that when you get on the pedal it sounds like you have a V8 and it kind of does. Normal idle and driving is very close to what your OEM box gave you for sound. Give it a little gas and it starts to come to life, stomp it and people will definitely hear you.

I am not sure if it has given me any pickup because I was too busy listing to the sound. I will see on the way home.

Next is DT short headers. Then I am done!

A quick job should take you 30 min. But I had done this before with my other CAI so I knew what I was doing.

Pictures. You can see where it does not line up with the hole in the fender. I guess its more of a luke warm cold air intake. I may do some moding on it to get closer to the hole. Its all about the hole......::D

I like it. Where did you order it from? I was looking around and it was over $300.

I want to install a new air intake and i guess your the one to ask.

Since you had a volant... and removed it for this one, i guess without a doubt the XDI gives you better performance.
Are you noticing any difference in gas mileage. MPG (probably not since your probable just flooring it all the time to hear the engine roar! hahaha!

For HP... does the XDI give you extra at lower RPM or must you bring it to 5000rpm to see the extra gain?
The K&N 63-9025 series offers a Gain: 10.31 HP @ 4978 RPM do you believe your air intake system gives you better results.

The filter itself... is it washable and reusable? must you oil it?

    Hey,
It might be a little better on throttle responce. I have not had it long enough to tell if my MPG is better, plus my driving around town is always stop and go. I am sure it will help a little. $300 is a lot to put in and not see a big diff. If I were you I might look for a good drop in and try to clean up the OEM intake system (post filter, better intake tube). I did order the DT short headers so with them and the CAI I hope (prey) to see a big diff. I know the headers will allow it to breath better.
I think the HP gain is more in the middle to upper ranges for the XDI. Yes, the filter is washable/reusable. Yes it needs to be washed and oiled. Take look at the web site. They say a 27hp and 62 torque....I think they are high!!!!

Great. Let me know what you think of it.
I may still add extention or spacer or bracket to move the can closer to the hole in the fender.

I think it's approved in some states, but not in California yet.

    I never looked.
Cal. is one of the hardest states to get things done like this (mods) but every day they let thousands of people across ther Mecican border and don't regulate them. That is BullS***. I know I have worked the border.

Wow!! This thing is awesome!!! Kinda sounds like a big v8 lol.........everyone turns around when you floor it. The sound is addicting. Installation looks a lot harder than it actually is. Its my first time doing a intake and it took me about 45 minutes... I really like it though.......:D Can't really comment on the gas mileage yet because i haven't had it on long enough......

How was your installation, are you also 1-2 inches off from reaching the hole??

If so... is this normal .... or should you send it back?
