I did alot of testing with a really good tuner on my sti and we found very little almost no "pro's" to CAI's not like the ads claim like K&N etc. but it did sound neat

Ive tested a few of them on Tacomas, and found the K&N's actually loose a little hp.

i knwo everyone says its a waste, but $160 for the intake and the sound to me is a benefit, i dont like the truck to just look sharp but sound nice as well, i am sure when we drive it, we like it to be as thrilling as possible, i need good audio, good feel, good overall driving exp, and a truck that can sound alittle meaner is worth it to me, esp for under $200

As I said earlier, the AEM CAI doesn't need oil and mine looks and sounds great. Not at all restrictive, opens up the space under the hood for good room, and is an all around great MOD. I was suprized and impressed with the added power that I received. $266 from Auto-P Ware-H. (dont know if allowed to spell it out.)

1 large pipe with a nice looking filter on the end. Also has a heat shield. I wouldnt worry too much about it getting wet either, seems to be in a great location.

DdayIsNear, I dont have a picture b/c I put it on yesterday and my digital cam seems to be broken, but Im telling you that It looks really nice, sounds really nice, and performs really nice. Ill get you a pic of mine soon and try to send it strait to you, if I can figure out how. New to this site and comp. all together.

Any Flow-Master exhaust system will also give you that sound, feel, and look that ur looking for, DdayIsNear.

That is more than justifiable. I think they are a waste because you are paying a couple hundred dollars to get an increase in power that is so small you can't notice it, but get a good sound. However if you are happy with the sound than that is good enough to justify it right there!

Just talked with a good friend and he has done our research and has confirmed his CAI led to him :eek::eek: NEEDING A NEW ENGINE ($8-11k)!!!!:eek::eek: He went though a BIG puddle and water went into his CAI - Another guy with a stock truck (2010) went right through. As I posted before, the only CAI that I would install on my truck would look like this:

Oh yeah, if I need the fractional increase in hp, I'll empty my water can and bring only one spare! ;)

I am a T4 paraplegic and so I wont be going through any BIG HOLES. It rains verywhere but Since I moved to NC, I dont really have a place for offroading. In WVa, where Im from and before I broke my back, I liked to go mudding but used Uncle Sam's Humm Vs for that.(Army, 88mic)

Anyway, CAIs are great for my useage. I dont have the $ to mess my 07 Taco up crossing water holes. If I needed to go mudding, It would take about 30 min to put my factory intake back on (which is also a CAI from fender well and would have the same result.) If I was a smartass, Id stay off the forums and leave them for people that have good sense.

Yea, I got the truck so that I could pull a boat; not to become a boat. Work, college, the store, and to WVa to see my daughter is the environments for me. DdayIsNear, I do like a little offroading, I am a man. However, I have and a large truck payment and other adult expenses.

I can tell you, from someone with similar ambitions and practical use of my vehicle, that the combination of a nice Split-Tail exhaust and a nice CAI (tube with end-filter), You can have a nice running and sounding truck with minimal expense.

Since I wrecked my 02 Taco: I got back more than I payed.(nice ass truck)! I kept $1000 back for Mods. as I got my 07 Pre Runner 4x2.
    AEM CAI:$267
    F_Master Exhaust: $378
    Smitty-Built Bull-Bar: $110
    Low profile hood Deflctr: $45
    Window Deflctrs: $120
    Black Hith Step:$120 TOTAL:$920

My truck looks sweet, sounds sweet, and out performs any vehicle that I have ever had. Forgive my ignorance w/ electronics, but Ill send some pics as I figure out how.
