Anyways, my multiquote isnt working for some reason. But lets say I get the LSX engine block... what all do I need to change out on the truck? Im assuming nearly everything. Also, one of the last posters mentioned that there is a company that sells all the parts for the engine swap into a 2nd gen tacoma. If I could be shown their way that would be awesome.

After drooping $1,000-$2,000 from the moment it leaves the lot and the added miles on the truck, it does.

Of course. Just saying what it costs. Anyways, how much do you guys think all of the parts needed for the LSX swap would cost? Also, what all needs to be replaced?

I think you should bring it to a performance shop and consult with them on everything involved.

get a hold of tundra racing, they sell the parts and know the swap.

i would say 2jz out of a supra. limitless buildint abilitys and limitless horsepower with turbos and if you re do the turbo setup then you can put a big ass turbo and a small one and by the time the small one is spooled to the max the big one will be pushin hard. they make more performance parts for the 2jz than just about any other engine.. or build a lexus 4.0 v8 and slap it in there but you have to look at upgrading everything. and as stated before no matter how much you over build parts youll still break shit..

You would have a tough time fitting a 2jz in our engine bays I think, length would be an issue. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Lexus 5.0L V8 400+hp? There are a number of wicked little V8's in the new Lexus lineups!!

I'd make a killer N/A motor with forged internals and a higher red line.
Even hit the current motor with twin turbos for that added kick. |

what do you mean? Are you referring to my sig? I made 253hp and 298tq to the wheels n/a before returning my truck back to stock. still had a few mods out there that could have put me over 260 and 300, without forced induction.

Yes my mistake, your sig looked like you put up the HP rating for that V8 engine in the pic, it had me a little confused.

To buy and build a motor will run you about $5k for a mild build. You build it to hold performance tack on another $3k-$8k. You'll need a matching trans, custom drive shaft, rear end, etc. Are you going carb'd or EFI? Sensors galore, and lots of custom fabrication to make it fix. I'd say budget $20k at least, and plan for at least 6 months to a year down time.

You would have to look at the electrical also, new computer and all. There was a guy on here a while back that put a Lexus v8 in his 2nd gen and he said the electrical was a PITA. There are many things that would need to be changed to do an engine swap like this (especially with the kind of hp you are wanting). As said before your best bet would be to take to a performance shop so they can walk you through everything and so you can understand why and how they are doing things. Then if you have questions about it you can ask right there and then.

I've used a few crate motors in a S-10, but that's a GM product and the camaro is plentiful with regards to rear ends and transmissions. I've spent as little as 4k putting a 350 in a S-10 and that included the motor and transmission. Nothing was touched on the motor and it used a carb. |

After hours and hours of discussing this with a few car junkie friends, we decided it would be best to go with the supra swap. Apparently, this would be much easier to do, and there is an insane abundance of supra performance parts.
Think I should head on over to: http://www.supracharged.com/ at the same time as getting advice from you guys? |

Have you decided on tranny and the rest of the drive train? Don't forget brakes.
