K&N Aircharger or 77 series
ive been looking into some K&N intake kits, and im wondering which kit would be better all around. The 77 series intake kit or the 63 series aircharger kit?
2008 4x4 Tacoma 4.0L If you guys could give me some opinions and advice on choosing that would be great. |

Well I would say that the 63 intake is a little better performance wise because the plastic will keep it a little cooler compared to the 77's metal pipe. I decided to go with the 77 just because it passes smog here in California and currently the 63 doesen't.

well the only thing im a little hesitant about is that it voids the warranty if I put that intake in.

I went through the same thing, but...everything else will still be covered under warranty. The only way you wont be covered is if the dealer can prove that the intake caused the problem. I really didnt want to void mine because I have there "platinum" warranty that I made them give me for only $100.

I actually went to the toyota dealer asking about the TRD CAI, and when I told him that I originally was thinking about getting the K&N and worried that it would void my warranty. He said it wouldn't void it, but I'm going with the TRD anyway.

The dealer cannot void your warrenty for an after market product, as si stated in the Magnuson-Moss Warrenty Act. But if they can prove that it was becasue of the product, K&N will either cover you, or try to fight the dealer so i hear, K&N has never lost a case against a dealer (as told by me from a AutoAnything employee).

truthfully. I would just roll with the deckplate mod. put an afe or k&n drop in and it will sound and give just as much power as a cold air. It only cost about 50 bucks too. search it on google.

yep....a few people have tried something similar to the deckplate mod on the 2nd gen tacoma and it didnt work...on the v6 anyway. probably wouldnt do much for the 4 nanger either, just seeing how the air box is setup.
