Hi, I was wondering If anyone has done a ECU upgrade on there tacoma. Is there a good power increase? and do Dealers do them? Will it give me better or worse gas mileage? Thanks for any responses.

There's not really "upgraded" ECU's available, but there are several piggybacks available that can plug into the ECU and give you control over fuel and timing.

What are you looking to control/alter with the piggyback?

I was thinking about the feul/air timing, better response, hp, ect. Because I got the bigger tires and lift. But I've looked at some, and they say that they cant be used with supercharged engines, and I defeanantly want a supercharger. :D

I talked with the tech at Unichip. The one they sell for the 05+ Tacomas will not support a boosted engine. The chip must be purchased from a Unichip Installation dealer and reconfigured. I called 2 in the state where I live and cost is $1,600.00. Ouch........however, one dealer said he had already installed one on a TRD S/C FJ and had 10% gain beyond the already boosted engine. I think I would have to see it in person to believe it. Anyone else had any experience? I have not tried URD yet, but too many other projects in the way and I have already gone a little extreme on the engine. Not sure I want to try anything else.
