the truck old and ugly yes, but your ignorance shows, there is a reason for it.
Go through a wheat field in the summer (dry) with old carburated trucks and a misfire will cause a field fire .
All you did was get a loan for a truck( so did I), and you think you are a truck expert lol, learn first then judge.
It offends me that these guys get business and agriculture degrees , and you judge the people who put food on your table. Yea he sold the truck years ago i'm sure , or just going real cheap. How does the saying go, "its better to be quiet and make them wonder how foolish you are, than to open your mouth and leave no doubt"

Rednecks were miners in the Appalachians, so "redneck" couldnt be from Washington, yea i know its used a lot. Its funny and sad watching "ignorance" judge "redneck"

Accept the fact the truck is or was used among grain fields, Doin work our Tacomas never do or did, or rarely do.

it is also funny and sad you take comments so serious. have you heard of a figure of speech. i guess having degrees in business and accounting and minors in marketing, management, economics and financial planning makes me "ignorant".

Even if it does have practical application, shouldn't the exhaust be out the back?

Heat from underneith the truck, from the exhaust can catch the grass on fire. Many Farm vehicles have the exhaust come straight out of the engine, and up. In fact, many owners manuals in trucks warn about the potential for fires being started from the exhaust.

ah, so I take it the exhaust that comes straight up out of the bed is one of those fire hazards?

I know because i used to work for " the man" when I was a kid, when a truck like that was new , say ahem ,1984. I was scare to death of being the cause of a field fire.
like i sad , i assume it may have been sold yeas ago , I did not say it certainly was... you assume not me, even a farmer isnt so cheap that long .... but could be
speculation you say because you dont know and are pissed. It is fact that modification done in farm areas, at least back then, I cant speak of it lately. NOT speculation, fact, just like the sun rises in the east in New York or Australia... it is a fact, thats why it was done, for field work.

I come to TW seeking info on stuff I'd like to learn about the truck , others have done the hard part figuring out. Basically we all do. I want to keep this site reputable, and you all are reputable, lets not start a downslide. Maybe lets pick on the dude who wrecked his new 2010 goin 110 mph in the desrert, not some hard on his luck field hand who is stuck with a $300 truck he cant fix up.

now lets enjoy our week end:D

I got home now and thoroughly re-read the thread. yea, I suppose I over-stepped the ingnorance/degree part, V-train, I think all of us may not mean any ill personally. Its so obsure in nature I really wouldn't expect anyone to know it , hell , I havent thought of that untill today.
As usual, Chris's answer is more correct.... the heat on the bottom. As usual, he is the guru on top Mt. Toyota.

its ok plato i forgive you, in case you forgot this is a truck site. i searched the term redneck on here and it gave me 16 pages in which the term was used. apparently i am not the only ignorant person on here. if you have nothing better to do, why don't you post on all the pages. call them ignorant for using the term, like you did me. you will become a fan favorite for sure.

Give it up V-train stop being a griever. You'll get no further sympathy from us. Yea, we all use "redneck" on people, at least be right on the topic you are talking about , not mistaken and making it worse.
I'm glad you noticed its a truck site.... an exchange for knowledge;). Yea the truck looks absolutley silly still:confused:, but why trash they guy because of it, he wasnt showing off his $300+/- truck , that needs $200 in exhaust refit:eek:.

( PS when you see an intake snorkel over the hood, that usually has a purpose too)
