Hey guys, just another newbie here with a new 08 PreRunner. I been looking at CAIs, TRD vs URD, and it looks to me that the URD actually takes its air from a better place than the TRD and is easier on the wallet. But after reading some of the other threads about CAIs and passing emissions testing i got to thinking (wich is dangerous), what does the intake have to do with the air goin out of my exhaust? you have to excuse my ignorance here, but if all ur doing is putting colder air, hence more efficient combustion, into the engine, why would u have worse emissions. thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this and im glad to join this forum.

    Welcome to Tacoma World!

The CAI isn't a problem in most states. It's mostly the poor citizens of California that are stuck with laws that go too far trying to protect us from ourselves.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
and in SC, u really dont have to worry about emissions since there's no inspection at all....it's lawmakers that are wanting to pad their wallets from the "green" lobyists(sp)

Welcome! The only problem with the URD is that it's out in front of the radiator. One guy on Toyotanation sucked a good amount of water in through his (even with a dry charger wrap) driving through standing water on the roads and heavy rain. I know SC gets some deep puddles sometimes when it rains and just collects everywhere so you might want to think twice about it. I'm sticking with stock intake, a $50 AFE Pro Dry filter drop in, and the secondary air filter removed.:D
