catalytic convertor install

I got me a replacement catalytic convertor for my truck to replace the stock one that has nearly 330K miles on it. Its a Magnaflow oem replacement. My questions are: Which way does the heat shield face? Which way is the exhaust flow supposed to go or does it matter?

Thanks.

flow usually matters. An arrow should be somewhere, make sure when installed it is pointing towards rear of truck. Heat shield goes UP between the cab/bed and the converter.

If there is no arrow on the converter then it probably doesn't matter which way it is installed as long as the flanges are the same size. Should tell you in the paperwork that came with it.

I didn't get any paperwork for it and there isn't any arrows on it.

Do I need any kind of gaskets or anything with it or just unbolt old and bolt in new?
