Diff breather mod????

I have no Idea what the diff breather mod actually does? Will someone please explain to me.

 

The simple version is that it stops water from going into your rear differential and saving you thousands of dollars.

 

Who the hell is Avsfantrd? Whoever he is is right. Its pretty simple to do, I just have been too lazy.

 

its a breather... hence lets air in and out. This mod extends where the opening is for this "venting" and puts it up higher where water will not get into it... causing damage to your differential.

 

Well said^^. the breather on the diff can let water in your diff if submerged in water. so buy relocating the breather to a higher place you will greatly reduce the chance of water getting in the oil and causing internals to rust.

But to add to the mod, it isn't something you have to do unless you plan on submerging your rear diff in water. If you do plan on doing that kind of off roading and going super deep in water, then it is something you will want to do.

Someone more mechanically inclined will have to explain why the diff needs to breathe to begin with.

 

IMO it is a necessity to do it, which is why I fell like a dumbass for not doing it yet. You never know what could come up. Flooding, have to go help someone and have to cross a creek, just you never know what could suddenly come up where your forced to cross some deep water. Chances are you'll be fine, but luck does run out.

Haha, I got all the stuff, but got the wrong breather. Dont go to your stealership like I did, they cant get the right breather. My truck isnt moving for a week so I have a week to do it

 

another thing it does is lessens the chances of your breather getting crudded up when you go thru water n junk.....crudded up breather usually ends up with blown axle seals
