Weld on or Clamp on muffler?

I'm about to click buy on a Flowmaster 10 Series. I just would like to know if I need to have it welded on or can I have it clamped on.


And what is the exhaust pipe size? 2.50" in and out?

 

You can have it clamped, I had a flowmaster on my f150 and it was fine. It would probably be best to have a muffler shop weld it in, that's what I'm going to do after I click buy on my dynomax later

 

What's the difference though? Did you have any exhaust whistles or leaks?

 

hell yea the 10 series sounds good. Either way will work fine, my borla cat back is all clamp on and i how no problems with leaks or anything.

 

Clamp on is just fine, welding is over rated

 

Hey Lents I have a Flowmaster 50 series American Thunder, single in dual out cat-back exhaust system and I just used the clamps it came with and it works just fine. I was going to tac weld them but its holding up good.

 

Alright awesome. Thats all I needed to know. Welding is alot more expensive. Could I do everything in my driveway??

Nah Lents it worked great, did everything with a friend in an hour and stayed on the whole time. The only hard part is getting all the right hardware the first time lol. The only reason I want mine welded in is because of cosmetics and I know a guy

 

You can do either. I like mine welded, but often wish it were clamped because then I could switch out mufflers from time to time

Thread revival!! So i'm wanting to order a new muffler but also want to save a little money for the time being so i'm thinking about just clamping it in. I was told my exhaust size is 2.25 so if thats the case should I buy a 2.25 in/out muffler and a 2.25" clamps? Or should I buy the 2.5" clamps? Thanks for the help.
