    NHinAK, thanks for the photo. Was it a self install? If so, by what means was the fuel and ignition maps modified in the ECU.
    Am planning to fit the same kit once I have the knowledge to modify the ECU.

    The dealer should have the dowload available. It may be a dealer install only, and Im not sure what they would charge. Installing the TRD supercharger is a realatively easy install. Take off parts not needed, install new parts. If you decide to do it yourself, take your time. Remove as much as you can from the front, i.e. radiator shroud, fan, belts, etc.. The factory reprogram for the 1GR-FE supercharger is a good one. It keeps the AFR's near 12 to 1 under WOT, so there should be no "lean out" conditions. :)

    A lot of people have been installing the supercharger and then driving to the dealer for a re-flash. Most people have been paying +/-$50 for just the flash. The truck will drive fine with the charger and no flash, until your able to get it to the dealer for the flash.

    I had the dealer install it, which took 2 days and $1100 of my hard earned money.:rolleyes:

    Chris4x4, NHinAK, Thanks for your prompt replies.
    The problem I am facing in Aust is TRD dealers will not sell the supercharger kits over the counter nor will they provide the necessary reflash for the ECU.
    As a result of this my only option is to buy the kit from USA and hopefully from this forum find the necessary software to reflash.
    Any assistance would be grately appreciated.
    Chris4x4, my n/a 1GR-FE runs 10.3 to 1 AFR at WOT......

    Can you purchase the SC and install kit from a dealer in the lower 48 and have it shipped? I got mine from TRDparts4U and had it shipped for a total of $3775 to my door, including the install kit.

    Toyota "should" be able to provide you with the flash, even if they "can't/wont" perform it. Take the file to any competent shop and they should be able to do the flash for you.


    Yep, $1100 on top of the purchase price for the charger. Sucks when there is only 2 dealers in the entire state of Alaska, and only 1 within 300 miles. Yes, it snows all the time in the winter. And, if it's not snowing it's raining.:(

    I bought my SC from a dealer selling them on eBay ($3750). My local dealer did the installation and reflash for $630. It certainly does scoot! :D

    Lucky. I can only get 90 up here. I have to mix it with 5 gallons of Sunoco 104 UL per tank so it doesn't detonate during the summer. It's expensive, but required.

    Just as I said in the other thread, boost is the best way to add a crap load of power, while still having good street manners.

    As long as its getting enough fuel, and you keep your air fuel ratios right... (12.0 or less is typically safe) and don't over power the bottom end a supercharged engine can run for a long time with little to no trouble.

    The TRD Sc is a "Roots" style supercharger, while the URD is a centrifugal supercharger. A Roots type super charger is also known as a "Positive displacement" supercharger, as it pumps its displacement into the motor, i.e. a 65 cubic inch roots blower will pump 65 c.i. every revolution of the impellers. A centrifugal supercharger is like a tubo charger, but with a gear drive instead of an exhaust impeller drive. :)
