Post 4.11 vs 4.56 Gears

Hey guys I'm looking to re-gear my truck in a week or soo..

Just wanted some thoughts and opinions on whether I should go with 4.11's or 4.56 gears.

I'm going to be up on a 4" Spindle lift with 33's.. I would like to retain my factory power x weight ratio with the lift but wouldn't mind gaining some extra power out of it. My only concern in going with the 4.56's is that my rpm would be too high on the freeway.. I average between 75-80mph on my longer trips. Soo as long as I'm not running 2750-3000+ rpm's on the freeway cruising at 75-80 then I'll be happy.

Anyone have any experience with the 4.56's??

i'm not positive but i thought you could only get the 4.11 for the second gen if it came factory or you take it out of another truck. someone correct me if i'm wrong

From what I have calculated, if your truck is a daily driver, the 4:10's (or 4:11's) would be a good option. If you want a little bit more power, at the expense of some hwy mpg (if any), get the 4:56's.

I would go 4.11 IMO, I think 4.56 would be a little too extreme but its a good option if your not willing to sacrifice the highway mileage

Subbed for later. Ill post another calculator that's a little more accurate than the one on this site. The one on this site doesn't take into account overdrive, it gives you rpm's based off of a 1:1 gearing which overdrive is closer to .85 therefore one on this site gives you a much greater 65 mph rpms than you should expect

250 for gears, up to 250 for a master install kit, and i think its about 200-300 for gear install

Went to a buddies shop yesterday to get a quote...

That dip-stick wanted $1500.00 for gears plus install...

(I laughed and walked away) Looks like I'm just gona get a Master set from ECGS and find a better shop that actually knows what they're talking about to do the install.

I've also decided that I'm going to go with 4.56's... I figured that if I'm shelling out the money to regear, why not go all the way and get the bigger gain from it. I don't think the 4.11's would do enough justice for me.. I'm also still up in the air about a supercharger.. Might just get the X-One + my other mods and leave it at that after the gearing..

go 4.56, look into urd stage 3 turbo kit. since u already have the headers and y pipe for a start. im running stock gears with my 285 km2 and still have alot of power. only have a prob when climbing steep hills

i have the same question but a little diffrent.... i have an 07 taco... 4x4 and do a lot of off roading... live on an island now (GUAM) but moving back to the states next year... so more highway miles.... i have 6" pro comp sup lift and 3" body and running 35x12.50................ i need to know whats going to be better from me... what does everyone thing 4.11 or 4.56................ i am all about going big or going home..... let me know what you guys think

i have 4.88s with 33s i run about 2900 at 80mph. but im rarely on the hiway. i think 4.56s should do you well
